Catchpoint attend Marks & Spencer Innov8
I want to share with you the experience we enjoyed showing the new Delford “C”
labeller, the dual machine seen for first time.
This was the first time Marks &Spencer had done this event. Their own Packaging
technologists, category managers and logistics team, with suppliers of non clothing
and fashion products, were divided into 4 groups for half day sessions. We were
one of 25 “innovators” invited to show our ideas.
All delegates were given a “trends of the future” presentation for 30 minutes
and then toured the exhibition. They then split into smaller groups to share ideas.
We met 24 major suppliers across meat and poultry, both fresh and cooked, Pizza
and prepared meals, salads and fresh food, wines and ambient goods, beverages,
bakery and domestic. No health and beauty, although foods to aid wellbeing were
a strong feature of the trends, from Japan in particular. In all we met over 40
people from suppliers
The general reaction was great. 2 points stood out;
- The simplicity of the Catchpoint application and the way we separated the labels drew “brilliant”- and not just from the uninitiated!
- The Dual function is clearly a key advantage. They all liked the fact that they could introduce linerless as artworks were changed, and could supply a multitude of customers from the same labeller.
Marks & Spencer has a very public “Plan A” covering Climate Change, Waste,
Raw materials. Fair partnerships, and Health. Their Chairman, Stuart Rose after
reading the Stern report on the effects of Climate change stated publicly that
“there is no plan B”.
